dare to imagine

The Paddock Project will be a world class visual arts venue, presenting inspiring and engaging exhibitions of national and international significance, attracting the local community and audiences from near and far, raising the profile of Sherborne as a tourist destination and significantly contributing to the economy of the town.

Learning and participation will be at the heart of everything we do and we will deliver a year round programme of courses, workshops, films, talks and discussions for communities of all ages and from all backgrounds. Our ambition is for the gallery to be the social hub of the town; a place to meet, to be inspired, to learn, participate, be creative and have fun.

We will support our local artists and flourishing arts communities, working in partnership to promote the extraordinary creativity and diversity in our region and with other cultural and tourism partners to cement Sherborne and Dorset’s reputations as highly desirable places to live, work, visit and invest.

We know from many studies that arts and culture can transform the quality of life for individuals and communities. We will work with all our communities, especially the vulnerable and socially isolated, to improve the health, well being and confidence of our residents.

Involvement with arts and culture is crucial to imagination, self-expression and creativity in young people. We will deliver a programme of creative workshops for children and young people and work with schools and teachers to support access to arts for our young people, developing the skills for the next generation of creative talent across our region.

“We believe The Paddock Project would be a cultural and commercial asset to Sherborne.”
